Debate has a history dating back to at least the 1950s at Michigan State University. For 27 consecutive years, the MSU debate team has competed at the National Debate Tournament. MSU Debate, housed within the Honors College, has advanced 30 teams to the elimination rounds of the National Debate Tournament and received 19 first-round, at-large bids.
